The proprietary office suite from Apple, iWork is now available on the iPhone and iPod touch, in addition to the iPad. Apple’s announcement suggests that Keynote, Pages, and Numbers behave best on devices with Retina displays. Shortly after Apple announced plans to unveil next-generation software at the Worldwide Developers Conference next week, the tech giant posted a new headline to its PR site that read “Apple iWork Now Available For iPhone & iPod touch Users”. “Apple today announced that its groundbreaking iWork productivity apps, Keynote, Pages and Numbers, are now available for iPhone and iPod touch, as well as iPad,” the company officially confirmed. “Created for the Mac and then completely redesigned for iOS and Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch interface, Keynote, Pages and Numbers allow you to create and share stunning presentations, beautifully formatted documents and powerful spreadsheets on the go,” Apple added. All three apps can import and export documents from iWork for Mac and Microsoft Office. Users can print content created on their iPhone or iPod touch wirelessly using AirPrint As with the iPad versions of Keynote, Pages and Numbers, the productivity tools include beautiful Apple-designed themes and templates. These updated universal versions add improved document management with thumbnail images that let users find files quickly, as well as organize them and group them into folders using intuitive gestures, Apple said. Commenting on the release of iWork for the smaller iDevices, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said: “Now you can use Keynote, Pages and Numbers on iPhone and iPod touch to create amazing presentations, documents and spreadsheets right in the palm of your hand.” “The incredible Retina display, revolutionary Multi-Touch interface and our powerful software make it easy to create, edit, organize and share all of your documents from iPhone 4 or iPod touch.” Apple’s iWork apps go for $9.99 each and they’re immediately available from the iTunes App Store in the Productivity section. Those who own iWork apps on the iPad can also download the iPhone / iPod touch versions for free.
