People interested in buying a mobile personal computer with more graphics performance than the average laptop may want to look at the BTO GSN721GW TYPE-GX.
PC specialist Lesance has unveiled a reference notebook with a screen size of 17 inches and intended to work as a portable substitute for desktops.
In other words, it is about as mighty as a high-end computer station, which makes it better than most PCs in general really.
The BTO GSN721GW TYPE-GX, as the PC is called, stands out through its adoption of the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics card.
With 1GB of DDR3 memory and 144 CUDA cores, the discrete GPU should handle most everything thrown at it, even if the gaming prowess won't, perhaps, be top notch.
That said, the CPU (central processing unit) acting as the heart of the laptop is the Intel Core i7-2670QM quad-core (its clock speed is of 2.20 GHz and the L3 cache of 6 MB).
Moving on, there are 8 GB of RAM (random access memory) available, courtesy of two 4GB SO-DIMM modules (they operate at 1,333 MHz).
Furthermore, Lesance tossed in a 120 GB Intel 510 Series SSD (solid state drive), plus a Blu-ray ROM drive.
Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet support, USB 3.0, Wi-Fi and, of course, the 17-inch screen (a Full HD display / resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels).
The only real problem with the Lesance BTO GSN721GW TYPE-GX, if it can even be called that, is the limited availability: only Japanese customers can get it, for now anyway.
On the bright side, for those who do intend to request one from the build-to-order PC specialist, the price is a quite reasonable one (by some standards anyway): 101,980 JPY, more or less the same as $1,320 and 1,010 Euro.
The notebook is pre-loaded with Microsoft's Windows 7 Home Premium OS (operating system).
