Depending on whereabouts in the world you live, you may have been seeing these pop-up notification tabs for a while. Places like Australia and America have been using the feature for a few months, if you are living in another part of the world the feature might be quite new to you. Regardless of where you live and how long you’ve had the Facebook Notification tab, this guide will show you how to disable these annoying pop-up tabs.
Facebook has some interesting ways of “Innovating”, more often than not Facebook Innovation seems like change for the sake of change rather than introducing something new and exciting. A classic example of this is the way they continually move tabs, options and settings round on their Messenger and Facebook apps.
If you haven’t yet seen the new notification pop up windows they work in a very similar way to Facebook conversations. Whenever you are tagged in something, whether it is a meme, video or article you will receive a new pop-up, allowing you to see the content of the post and reply to the tag and message. Depending on how often you are tagged in content, will affect how you feel about the popups. If you are someone who doesn’t get tagged all that often, it's not so much of a problem. On the other hand, if you are someone who has tons of friends that are constantly tagging you, the constant pop-up windows might start to crowd your work space.
Thankfully, if you don’t like the innovative new feature, Facebook has been nice enough to include an option that allows you to disable it. And! for a change, they’ve also made it relatively easy to find.
How to Disable Facebook Notification Tabs. (Facebook Post Tabs)
As with changing any setting or feature on Facebook, the hardest part is tracking down the option in the settings menu. In the case of Facebook Post Tabs, nothing has changed. First, you will need to sign into your Facebook account, then click on the small gear icon which can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the chat box area, just to the right of the search box. (I bet you have been looking in the main settings menu all this time!)
Once you have clicked on the small gear icon, you will see a new tab will open, in this tab you will see quite a long list of options and features you can customize. If this is your first time using this menu, have a look around, there is bound to be something else that catches your eye. Anyway getting back on track to disable the notification popups, you will need to click Turn Off Post Tabs.
As soon as you have clicked on the option, Post Notifications will be disabled. If you ever want to re enable them or any other settings you may have changed, all you have to do is click on the small cog icon again and revert the setting back to the on position.
