If you want to remove all of the annoying web search results on Windows 11 and remove Bing as well. This article will show you how to disable Web Search altogether and get rid of Bing. As always, there are a few different ways you can make these changes, so follow along as we guide you through each of the different processes. Just pick the one that best suits your skill level.

What Happens When You Disable Web Search?

Disabling web search on Windows 11 removes Bing search results from the Start menu and Windows Search. Instead of showing online suggestions, Search focuses entirely on local content, including:

  • Installed apps
  • Files and folders
  • Documents
  • System settings

Microsoft should never have added this stupid feature in the first place, so it's good to see it finally get an option to disable it. Depending on the method you use to disable it in this guide, you can also remove the Copilot entry from Windows Search, preventing searches from automatically opening Microsoft Edge.

Which Method Should You Use?

Since there are now 3 different ways you can disable Web Search Results on Windows 11, you have a choice to make!

  • Settings: Available in Windows 11 26H2 preview builds and the easiest method.
  • Registry Editor: Works on Windows 11 Home and other editions without Group Policy.
  • Group Policy Editor: Best for Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, and Education.

Note: If the new Settings option isn't available on your PC, simply use one of the other methods below. Or wait until the update rolls out and the feature becomes available to you.

Warning: Editing the Windows Registry incorrectly can cause system problems. Before making any changes, create a full system backup or restore point.
