If you have installed Bazzite along side Windows 11 in a dual boot setup, there's a good chance that you only allocated a small amount of disk space for Bazzite, leaving the rest for Windows. So if you are regretting the amount of space you've set aside for Bazzite and want to increase it, follow along as this guide shows you how to safely shrink your Windows partition and expand your Bazzite partition without reinstalling either system. Before you start though, make a back up all important files on both Windows and Bazzite before starting. Disk operations can fail and cause data loss.

How to Expand Your Bazzite Partition Size in a Windows | Bazzite Dual Boot Setup
In order to create extra space for Bazzite do the following. But only after you have made a backup of your data! Don't be lazy!
- Right-click the Windows Start menu.
- Select Disk Management.
- Find your Windows C drive or the drive that you want to shrink.
- Right-click the drive and choose Shrink Volume.

- Enter the amount of space you want to shrink. For example, leaving 120GB for Windows on a 2TB SSD.
- Click Shrink to apply the changes.

After this process, the newly unallocated space is available to expand your Bazzite partitions.
Prepare a Bootable Linux USB
Windows cannot move or resize Linux partitions directly. You need a Linux live system to manage partitions safely.
- Go to the Linux Mint website.
- Select the Cinnamon edition.
- Choose a mirror server close to your location.
- Download Rufus from its official homepage (64-bit version recommended).
- Insert a USB drive (all data on it will be erased).
- Select the Linux Mint ISO and the USB drive in Rufus.
- Start the process and wait until it completes.
- Safely eject the USB drive.

Resize Bazzite Partitions Using GParted
- Insert the bootable USB into your computer.
- Restart and boot from the USB drive.
- Launch Linux Mint live environment.

- Open GParted from the application menu.
- Find your Bazzite partitions.
- Move all Bazzite partitions to the left, one at a time, to consolidate free space.

- Click Apply Operations to execute the changes.
IMPORTANT WARNING: Do not cancel the process once it has started & do not restart the computer even if it appears stuck.
- Expand the main Bazzite partition to use the remaining free space. This step completes faster than moving partitions.

Testing After Resizing
- Restart the computer.
- Confirm that Windows boots correctly.
- Verify that Bazzite also starts properly.
Both operating systems should work as expected with the new partition sizes.
