The DMD2 Navigation App is one of the best navigation systems for people heading out on motorcycling adventures, especially if you are looking for dirt trails, riding the TET (Europe) or BDR (US), and using GPX files. While the app is generally stable and works well, there is one super annoying issue that pops up from time to time: a large gridline graphical glitch that can block out half the map in both light and dark modes. Thankfully, there is a quick and easy way to solve this problem, so follow along as we show you how to get rid of the big gridlines in the DMD2 Navigation app.

Why the Big Gridlines Appear in DMD2
Gridlines on the map in DMD2 mean the app’s internal graphics cache did not update correctly after a map scale change or other rendering event. The app keeps some graphical data in memory, and when that data becomes stale, gaps between map tiles appear as white or black lines. These lines are not usually caused by corrupted maps but by cached graphics that need refreshing.
How to Fix Big White or Black Gridlines in the DMD2 Navigation App
Just close the app and make sure it didn't just slide into the background.
- Bring up the Android recent apps screen.
- Swipe DMD2 off the screen to close it.
- Reopen DMD2 from your home screen or app drawer.
Force Stop the DMD2 App
If simply closing and reopening the app does not work, use Android’s Force Stop option to clear the graphics cache. This will solve the problem for 99% of people.
- Open Android Settings.
- Go to Apps & notifications (or Apps).
- Find and tap on DMD2 in the list.
- Tap Force Stop to completely shut down the app process.
- Reopen DMD2 from the launcher.

Clear the DMD2 App Storage
If you are unlucky enough for the first few solutions not to work, this one should solve the problem for you.
- Go to Android Settings > Apps > DMD2.
- Tap Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear storage & Clear Data.

Note: This will reset app configuration, so you may need to re-login or reconfigure the app afterwards.
Restart Your Device
If nothing so far has worked, repeat all the other steps above, then restart your device.
- Hold down the power button until the restart option appears.
- Tap Restart.
- Once restarted, launch DMD2 again.
Check Zoom Levels
Gridlines can appear at specific zoom levels where map tiles do not align perfectly due to scaling. Try zooming in or out slightly to see if the lines disappear.
Re Download Offline Maps
If you are using offline maps and gridlines still won't go away after everything else shown here, the offline tile files might not have downloaded correctly. Delete the affected offline map regions in DMD2 and re-download them.
How to Prevent the Gridlines From Coming Back?
Since this is a weird graphical glitch, the solution is to refrain from adjusting any of the app's scaling options. For some reason, whenever you adjust map scale and sizes, it loses its mind. This goes for any of the scaling options inside of the app, icons, maps, etc. Just set everything how you want it and leave it alone.
