How to Fix ChatGPT Streaming Interrupted Error
Before you start doing anything else in this guide or on your computer check to see if ChatGPT is up and running. 99.9% of the time if there are issues with ChatGPT it is on the server end and not on your device. You can check the status of ChatGPT at status.openai.com to see the current status of OpenAI services. If the servers are down, the only option is to wait until OpenAI resolves the issue.
Check Your Internet Connection
If servers are up and running you need to check your Internet connection. First restart your modem/router and your computer. Once you have done this go back in an check if ChatGPT is working again. If it is wrap this guide up here. If it isn't make sure you aren't using a VPN and see what happens. If you aren't using a VPN you can try using one to see if anything changes. I doubt this will change anything but it's worth checking as your VPN server might be having problems at the moment.
Refresh the ChatGPT Page
Lately I have noticed that ChatGPT is quite buggy and refreshing the page a few times seems to solve the problem pretty quickly.
- Reload the ChatGPT web page.
- If the Stop button appears while streaming, click it.
- Edit your last message using the pencil icon and resend.
This simple step can resolve temporary glitches without further troubleshooting.
Disable Browser Extensions
Depending on how many and what browser extensions you are using, they might be causing problems with ChatGPT. Dark Reader is an extension that seems to cause a lot of issues with ChatGPT at the moment. It has worked without issue for quite a long time though recently an update with it, or ChatGPT has caused it to get stuck loading pages.
That said there are plenty of other extensions that might be causing issue as well. The quickest and easiest way is to check in a private browsing window.
Switch your Browser
It's probably not something that's causing issues but if you have checked pretty much everything else try switing your browser, especially if you are using Firefox. Companies hate Firefox so aren't generally optimising their content for it so it might be causing issues.
