How to Fix Disney+ Sorry, Something Went Wrong Error on TV
Annoyingly, it is possible that your TV is too old to run the Disney+ app anymore. If this is the case, there is nothing that you can do. With the exception of hitting the high seas. Which always works.
The best thing you can do is to make sure that everything is as up to date as possible, this includes your TV's firmware.
- Open the TV or streaming device app store.
- Install any available Disney+ update.
- Open the system update menu.
- Install the latest firmware or operating system update available for the device.
If Disney+ runs through an external device like a Fire TV Stick or something similar, make sure that is up to date as well.
Most smart TVs do not fully close apps when you press Home or turn the screen off. So Disney+ has probably remained suspended in the background and may have bugged out, so turn your TV off at the wall and leave it off for a minute or two, then check if things are working.
Restart Disney+ completely
- Exit Disney+ completely instead of leaving it running in the background.
- Turn off the smart TV, streaming stick, console, or TV box.
- Unplug the device from the power for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect it and turn it back on.
- Open Disney+ and test the same content again.
Personally, I find it easier to just uninstall and reinstall the Disney+ app. This might not be possible on all devices, though, as some have it preinstalled with no way to remove it, so reset it instead.
Reset Disney+
- Open the TV or streaming device application settings.
- Select Disney+.
- Clear cache or app data if the option is available.
- If supported, uninstall Disney+.
- Restart the TV or streaming device.
- Install Disney+ again from the official app store.
- Sign in and test if things are working again.
Check your Internet Connection
This is something you should have done at the very start, make sure your Internet connection is actually working. Even if your other devices don't have issues, go and restart your router and/or modem. If you are using Proxies or VPNs, disable them and see if Disney+ works after doing so. Quite often, Disney+ and other streaming services will block the app if you are trying to connect with a VPN or Proxy active.
Alternatively, you could use different server locations, but this isn't always going to work. Most of the time it's a dice roll on whether they have been detected and blocked by Disney.
