Before installing an NVIDIA driver, make sure that your computer actually has an NVIDIA graphics card installed. Attempting to install the driver without the hardware will always fail. Your motherboard and operating system must fully support the GPU model. You can visit the official NVIDIA website to verify which motherboards and operating systems are compatible with your graphics card. If your hardware is unsupported, the installer will not proceed.
If you are manually downloading the driver, make sure you actually got the right one for your GPU and Windows OS.

A disabled GPU in Device Manager can also trigger this issue. To check the status of your card, press Windows key + X, select Device Manager, and expand the Display adapters section. Right-click your NVIDIA GPU and, if the option is available, select Enable device. If it is already enabled, you can leave it as is.
Restart NVIDIA Services
NVIDIA drivers rely on certain background services to function correctly. If one of these services has stopped or is not responding, you may see the installer error. To restart them, open the Services panel by pressing Windows key + S, typing Services, and selecting the result. Look for the following services:
- NVIDIA FrameView SDK Service
- NVIDIA Display Container LS
- NVIDIA LocalSystem Container
For each service, double-click to open its properties. If the service is running, click Stop, then Start again. Confirm with OK to save your changes. After restarting these services, attempt the installation once more.
Hardware Related Checks (Desktop PCs)
If nothing above helped you solve this particular issue, you will need to look into your hardware situation. Make sure everything is installed correctly and that your hardware is actually working correctly. Unfortunately, this is pretty much limited to desktop PCs. So if you have a laptop, you will probably have to bring it to a specialist.
