If you are trying to launch Davinci Resolve, either the Free version or the Studio version, but keep getting the following error message: "The procedure entry point clCreateProgramWithIL could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\ProResRAW.dll." It's usually not caused by a damaged ProResRAW.dll file. So you've probably been looking in the wrong place for a solution. Most of the time, the error happens because Davinci Resolve can't access the required OpenCL function provided by your graphics driver.

What Causes the Error?

The clCreateProgramWithIL function is part of the OpenCL runtime supplied by your GPU driver. DaVinci Resolve expects this function to be available when loading certain components, including the ProRes RAW plugin. But if the function cannot be found, it is typically because of one of the reasons below.

  • An outdated or corrupted graphics driver.
  • A corrupted DaVinci Resolve installation.
  • A graphics card that does not support the required OpenCL version.

First Clean Install and Update Your Graphics Drivers

If it has been a while since you clean installed your GPU drivers, do it now using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

  • Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
  • Download the latest stable GPU drivers from:
  • Disconnect your PC from the internet.
  • Run DDU and completely remove your graphics drivers.
  • Restart your system.
  • Install the latest GPU driver.
  • Restart again and reconnect to the internet.

Then Clean Reinstall of DaVinci Resolve

A corrupted installation can sometimes prevent Resolve from loading its components correctly.

To perform a clean reinstall:

  • Uninstall DaVinci Resolve from Windows.
  • Open C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\.
  • Delete the remaining DaVinci Resolve folder if it still exists.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Download and install the latest version of DaVinci Resolve.

After doing both of these steps, the missing, corrupted or damaged files should be replaced with clean files, and the problem should go away. However, if it doesn't, it's possible you've got some kind of hardware issue.

Check GPU Compatibility

If you are already using the latest graphics driver and the error still appears, your graphics card may not support the OpenCL functionality required by your version of DaVinci Resolve.

This is most common with older GPUs, particularly legacy Intel integrated graphics and aging NVIDIA or AMD cards that no longer receive feature updates. In these cases, the newest version of Resolve may simply require hardware capabilities that your system cannot provide.

Install an Older Version of DaVinci Resolve

If your graphics hardware is no longer compatible with the latest release, installing an earlier version of DaVinci Resolve might allow you to keep using your computer. Alternatively, you can try switching to a different video editing tool like CapCut or ClipChamp, but they aren't anywhere near as good as DaVinci Resolve, so you would be taking a step backwards.
