How to Fix the “Failed to Install EasyAntiCheat” Error on Windows

EasyAntiCheat (EAC) causes a mountain of problems for people who generally aren't trying to cheat. Sometimes just running a random bit of unrelated software can cuase Anti-Cheat to throw up error messages and/or get your booted and banned from games. In the case of the “Failed to install EasyAntiCheat” error though, it's typically a bad installation, or uninstallation of a game or some bad modding work, usually on your part. So follow along as we show you how to quickly and easily solve this dumb error message.

How to Fix the “Failed to Install EasyAntiCheat” Error on Windows

This is a super simple basic thing that you should have done already, so if you haven't already though about doing it. Restart your computer and check to see if the problem goes away. More than likely it will. If not keep going through the other steps below.

Run the Game Launcher as Administrator

This doesn't work for all games but you can try to run things with administrator rights. Since EasyAntiCheat requires system-level permissions to install and register its service. Running the game launcher without administrator privileges might be causing the error.

• Right-click your game launcher, such as Steam or Epic Games Launcher.
• Select Run as administrator.
• After launching the launcher with elevated privileges, try starting the game again.

Repair EasyAntiCheat Manually

If there are any problems with the EasyAntiCheat files on your system you need to fix them. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to find the file inside the game folder. Usually, the setup file is called EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe or EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe. You will know it when you see it.

• Open Steam and go to your Library.
• Right-click the game and select Manage, then Browse local files.
• Open the EasyAntiCheat folder.
• Right-click the setup file and choose Run as administrator.
• If available, select the Repair option.

Alternatively, you can use a command-line repair by opening Command Prompt and entering:

• After completing the repair, restart your computer and try launching the game again.

Clean Reinstall EasyAntiCheat

If you can't figure out how to Repair your EasyAntiCeat installation just clean install it.

• Open the EasyAntiCheat folder for the affected game.
• Run the setup file and select Uninstall.
• Delete the following folders manually:

Note: The ProgramData is a hidden folder. Enable View > Hidden items in File Explorer if it is not visible.

• After deleting these folders, verify the game files through your launcher or relaunch the game. EasyAntiCheat will reinstall automatically.

Reinstall the Game

Rather than messing around with all the other stuff in this guide i generally just uninstall the game, restart my computer then install the game again. If you don't have any download limits and a decent Internet connection this entire process should be pretty quick and easy. Easy Anti-Cheat will install itself as required. Unless something has changed recently this should fix the problem for all games on your system that use it.
