The new Elden Ring Nightreign expansion that dropped recently hasn't been received as well as you might have expected, since a few of the most anticipated and sought-after features weren't included by default. The biggest gripe people have is that there is no duo option, which means that random people join games just to run off and do their own thing. Then there is the issue with voice chat.. How to Install and Play Elden Ring: Nightreign Seamless Co-op Mod

The Seamless Co-op mod for Elden Ring has now been updated for compatibility with the Night Rain version of the game. This guide will walk you through how to download, install, and configure the mod so you can start playing with your friends right away. This version of the mod is still in early development. While compatibility updates and bug fixes are expected, the installation process should remain the same.

• Go to the Seamless Co-op Night Rain page on Nexus Mods. The direct link is typically included in the video or article description.

• Log in or create a free Nexus Mods account. Downloads require an account.

• Go to the "Files" tab on the mod page.

• Find the latest version of Seamless Co-op Night Rain.

• Click "Manual Download" to begin downloading the ZIP file.

Install the Mod

• Locate your Elden Ring: Night Rain installation folder.
  
  If you are using Steam:

  • Open your Library.

  • Right-click on Elden Ring: Night Rain.

  • Select "Manage" then "Browse local files".

• Open the downloaded ZIP file.

• Inside, you will find a folder and a file named NRSC_launcher.exe.

• Extract both into the main game directory, placing them next to the game's nightra.exe file.

• Once extracted, you can delete the ZIP file if you wish.

Configure the Mod (Optional)

• Open the Seamless Co-op folder you just extracted.

• Locate the file NRSC_settings.ini and open it in Notepad or any text editor.

• You can adjust:

  • The number of players (currently supports 2 or 3).

  • The save file extension (recommended to use a different extension, such as .co2, to avoid overwriting official saves).

• Avoid using the default .sl2 save extension for modded play. This helps prevent conflicts with your original saves and avoids risk when switching between modded and unmodded gameplay.

Launch the Game

• Launch the game using NRSC_launcher.exe.

• To make launching easier, right-click the launcher file, choose "Create shortcut", then drag the shortcut to your desktop. You can rename it to something like "Elden Ring Co-op" for convenience.

Import an Existing Save (Optional)

Open File Explorer and type the following into the address bar:

• This will take you to the local app data folder for the game.

• Open the folder named with your Steam ID.

• Inside, find the SL2 folder containing your single-player save file.

• Copy the save file and paste it in the same directory.

• Rename the copied save file using the alternate extension defined in your mod settings (for example, change .sl2 to .co2).
  If file extensions are not visible:

  • In Windows 10, go to the "View" tab and check "File name extensions".

  • In Windows 11, go to "View" > "Show" > "File name extensions".

Play with Friends

• Launch the game using the mod launcher or your new shortcut.

• On startup, you should see confirmation that the Seamless Co-op mod is active.

• Load your save game or start a new one.

• Open the in-game menu and navigate to "Expeditions".

• Select "Matchmaking Settings".

• From here, you can invite friends who also have the mod installed.

• You can also set a multiplayer password and adjust the number of players, though the player count must be set in the configuration file before launching the game.
