I heard that it's good to create a backup of your registry so if something goes wrong I'll be able to restore the system to its previous state... how should I do it?

  1. You can make Windows create a copy of your registry each time some programs make changes to it. This way, you will be able to bring back Windows to clean slate anytime. For details click here.
