Media Player Classic lets you play video files ( CD, DVD, QuickTime files,
RealMedia and much more). Program provides an easy-to-use interface and supports
DirectX 9.0 technology.

MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 playback
- Media Player Classic is able to play VCD, SVCD and
DVD without a need to install additional software and codecs, because it
includes embedded codecs for MPEG-2 video with support for subtitles and
codecs for LPCM, MP2, AC3 and DTS audio. It also comes with an enhanced
MPEG splitter, that supports subtitles of
SVCD and direct VCD and SVCD reader. From 30th of October 2005 support for mp4 and MPEG-4
Timed Text was added. The application brings decoding filter that makes Media Player Classic alternative for
Winamp or iTunes.
DirectShow, QuickTime and RealPlayer - Media Player Classic is based on DirectShow architecture so that is uses automatically DirectShow decoding filters. For example, after installation of an open source, fast and good quality decoding and process of DivX, Xvid and H.264 formats is possible with Media Player Classic.
- Apart from DirectShow, the program can also use QuickTime and RealPlayer architecture ( if they are installed) to play their native formats.Matroska and Ogg
- Media Player Classic enables you to play OGM
formats and Matroska. However the
sound in OGM is limited by the lack of support for CoreVorbis DirectShow filter,
what regards the latest files OGM (from 2006).
TV tuners - Media Player Classic enables playing and recording TV if the tuner is installed in the system.

I run it on Windows 7, play downloaded videos in every format and watch DVDs. Have not encountered any problems with it so far. Forget about problems when watching media. Easy to use, wonderful customization, fast in terms of opening files and plays almost any format. High quality sound.
