Dual-GPU GeFoce GTX 460 Developed by EVGA

While everyone's eagerly waiting for NVIDIA to make its move against AMD in the dual-GPU sector and launch a product of its own featuring two Fermi GPUs, it seems that EVGA has decided to go ahead and release such a product, although we're not exactly talking about the latest-gen technology here. EVGA's new graphics card is officially dubbed the GeForce GTX 460 2Win! and, as the name suggests, comes packed with twin GTX 460 graphics cores, that combine to deliver a level of performance that's actually above that of the GTX 580, at least according to the company's own tests. Given the fact that it packs two heat-generating cores, the new dual core card sports a special cooling system designed by EVGA, that includes no less than three different fans. In terms of specs, the new card fares pretty well too, since the core clock speed has been set at around 700MHz, for all the combined 672 processing cores. Moreover, the card comes equipped with 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 3600MHz, the total memory bandwidth being set at 230.4GB/sec. Another very interesting feature worth mentioning here is that the EVGA card will actually enable the setup of an NVIDIA 3D Surround 3-monitor system using a single card, which is really quite an impressive feat, thus representing quite a serious contender for AMD's EyeFinity technology. That's possible due to the fact that the card packs plenty of connectivity options, namely no less than three different DVI-I connectors, plus a mini-HDMI interface. Unfortunately, there's still no word on the pricing of the new GeForce GTX 460 2Win! graphics card from NVIDIA, but it's safe to presume that it will be significantly lower than that of the future dual-GPU GTX 500 series card, set to be unveiled by NVIDIA in less than two weeks' time.
