Jelly Bean for Galaxy S III in October, Samsung Confirms

Galaxy S III, Samsung’s current Android-based flagship handset, will receive an update to the latest flavor of Google’s mobile operating system, Jelly Bean, only in October. The leading handset vendor has already confirmed that users would have to wait until next month for the OS upgrade, but it did not offer a specific release date for it as of yet. The new platform release brings along a variety of enhancements when compared to Ice Cream Sandwich, the OS version loaded on Galaxy S III straight from launch. At the end of the last month, Samsung also announced a LTE version of Galaxy S III, which will arrive on shelves with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right from the start. As CNet reports, Samsung might push the update to unlocked devices at first, while planning to update carrier-specific handsets soon after.
