If you are trying to Stream Genshin Impact but can’t figure out how to get it to appear in OBS properly. Not as a blank screen. This article will show you how to Configure Genshin Impact and OBS to work with each other correctly, letting you avoid using the more resource intense display capture option within OBS.
Genshin Impact is one of the best free to play (F2P) games in the gaming space at the moment. It’s a beautiful, vibrant game set in a magical world, filled with unique characters, creatures, and quests. As someone who likes to play a lot of FPS games like Halo, Doom, Apex Legends, etc, Genshin Impact is a nice variation to any playlist. Especially if you are a fan of Breath of the Wild. Apart from being a stunning single-player game, it’s co-op system is by far Genshins biggest drawcard, allowing players from anywhere to connect and help each other out.
Genshin Impact is also extremely well optimised and runs like a gem on just about any hardware configuration from the last 5 years or so. The only real issue of note is that it is a difficult game to stream if you are using OBS. Although you can stream Genshin Impact easily if you are using Display Capture Mode in OBS, the resource usage is rather high when compared to the proper Game Capture Mode setting.
Thankfully, it is possible to get Genshin Impact to stream using OBS Game Capture Mode, though there are a couple of small adjustments you need to make to OBS and Genshin Impact in order to get Game Capture Mode to show the game.
How do you fix Genshin Impact not showing in Game Capture Mode on OBS?
To begin, there are two changes you need to make in order to get Genshin Impact to appear in OSB.
- The first is within OBS and requires you to start OBS with full administrator privileges.
- The second requires you to configure Genshin Impact to run in Windows 8 compatibility mode (weird I know).
How to make OBS Studio always run with Administrator privileges.
In order to force OBS to run in admin mode whenever it starts, find the shortcut you always use, then right-click on it and select Properties. In the new window change to the Compatability tab, then place a tick in the Run this program as an administrator check box. Finally, click Apply to save the change.
Note: You will need to do this for all the shortcuts you use to open OBS. If you use more than one of course.

Do you need to configure anything else in OBS to get things working?
Nope! Now that you have made these two changes, you can configure your streams as you normally would, using the Game Capture option. If you have any other solutions that may help, feel free to drop a few words in the comments below.
