How to Hide the App Icons at the Bottom of iMessage on iOS 11.

Introduced in iOS 11 in the name of convenience, the newly added icon row at the bottom of the iMessage window is something you are either going to love or hate. The new icons are supposed to allow you to more easily access apps, however, if you don’t use any of the items on the list or find it an eyesore this guide will show you how to quickly and easily remove them.

iOS 11 has added a ton of interesting features and tweaks to an already impressive operating system. It has also changed the way some apps look and function, some of which you may not be too happy about, an example of this is the icon row at the bottom of your iMessage window, if you aren’t too impressed by the change there is a way to make some changes to it. Unfortunately, you won't be able to remove the enter bar/row at the bottom. But you will be able to hide all the distracting ugly icons and regain some of that classic iOS minimalist feel.

How to Remove the App Icon Row at the Bottom of iMessage on IOS 11.

To start the process of hiding icons on the row you first need to open the Messages App and tap on a conversation. Once you have opened the app and a conversation, go to the bottom of the screen and find the iMessage apps.

You will now need to swipe all the way to the right of the screen until you get to the More option. When you have found the More option tap it. On the next page tap Edit which can be found in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Next, if you have any iMessage apps saved to Favourites, tap the red circle associated with them, then tap Remove from Favourites to delete them from the list. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to remove the Store icon from the list as it is a locked icon. You also won’t be able to remove it from the bottom row sadly.

Now, you can tap the toggle switches to the right of all the apps listed under the More Apps section. Remember Green is on and White is off. When you have turned all the extra apps off tap Done in the top right-hand corner of the screen to save the changes. And Done in the top right-hand corner again to exit.

It's not completely clean or removed but you will now have an almost empty row at the bottom of your iMessage conversation windows. Hopefully, with most of these icons removed you can put you OCD tendencies at ease knowing you now have a cleaner iMessage app to use.

If you know of another way to completely remove the app row or hide the Store icon, feel free to let us know in the comment section and we will add it to the article. Hopefully, in a future iOS update, Apple release how ugly and impractical the row is and offers an option to hide the using a simple toggle on or off option.
