The fight between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 is heating up, as Glen Schofield, the boss of Modern Warfare 3 co-developer, Sledgehammer Games, made some pretty interesting statements about the game and its rivals, favoring, of course, the title set to be published by Activision this fall. We're in for a major fight between the biggest first person shooters of the year, as both Battlefield 3, developed by DICE and published by EA, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, developed by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, and published by Activision, have plenty of aces up their sleeves. According to Sledgehammer co-founder Glen Schofield, Modern Warfare 3 has the best attribute, due to its rock solid 60fps framerate, as opposed to Battlefield 3, and its 30fps, so no matter the engine, gamers are going to know what to pick this fall. "You can go out and name your engine and call it whatever you want, right," Schofield told AusGamers. "You know, I've done that before, I've seen that trick and the bottom line is, this game will run at 60 frames a second. Not sure any of our competitors will. Not sure I've seen any of our competitors on the console, especially running at 60 frames a second, and I'd be a little scared at this point - in June - if I was looking forward to a particular game that wasn't on the console and running at 60." Schofield concludes by saying that gamers are interested in the smoothest experience possible, not by a powerful engine that displays the most realistic experience. "I think 60 is our competitive edge and you just don't throw that away. You don't ship an engine, you ship a game." Electronic Arts is pretty certain, however, that plenty of gamers will appreciate its whole Battlefield 3 experience in favor of Modern Warfare 3, even if the framerate won't be as smooth as possible.
