Since the new year, rumors about the next generation of Apple's tablet-to-beat, the iPad, have been circulating the Internet nonstop, almost ad nauseam. The problem with those rumors was just that, they were unconfirmed.
Today, however, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has finally begun production on the next model of the iPad. "[P]eople familiar with the matter" claim that the next iPad will sport a built-in camera and a faster processor all while, staying true to Apple fashion, being thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
The Wall Street Journal's sources also said that the next iPad will have "at least" one camera on the front of the device for FaceTime and come with more memory than its predecessor.
The resolution of the screen, however, will remain the same. The Wall Street Journal said that Apple had problems with improving the resolution of the screen because the iPad's display is much larger than that of the iPhone's. They also stated that both AT&T and Verizon will support the 3G model of the iPad 2 at release.
There's no doubt that you probably could have guessed most of this, but WSJ has a good track record for confirming previous technology speculation.
The iPad 2 will presumably see its debut in the next coming months, even though leaked images suggested an announcement from Apple this week as reported by Neowin. The iPad 2 is expected to cost the same as the current model.
